The Q.series XE Bus Coupler connects up to ten Q.series XE measurement modules as individual EtherCAT slaves to an EtherCAT network. It supports oversampling up to 100 kS/s, distributed clock synchronization, and full integration with standard EtherCAT masters like TwinCAT or KPA, making it a powerful DAQ bridge into EtherCAT-based systems.
The Q.series XE Bus Coupler is the head module that enables Q.series XE I/O modules to operate as EtherCAT slave devices in real-time networks. By combining individual XE modules with the bus coupler, you can build customized EtherCAT-based data acquisition systems for engine and component test rigs as well as long-term process monitoring in harsh industrial environments. A single bus coupler can host up to ten modules and present them to the EtherCAT master with read/write rates up to 10 kHz.
All connected modules are built around the ET1100 EtherCAT Slave Controller and fully comply with the ETG.2200 standard, including distributed clock technology for sub-microsecond time synchronization. Oversampling technology supports data rates up to 100 kS/s, and built-in signal conditioning ensures high measurement accuracy with minimal additional engineering effort.
The Q.series XE Bus Coupler acts as a drop-in replacement for traditional industrial I/O solutions, while leveraging the full flexibility of the Q.series X family for sensor support—voltage, current, resistance, RTD, thermocouples, strain gages, IEPE, frequency, and more. It is ideally suited for EtherCAT environments where high-performance DAQ must be combined with standardized, real-time industrial communication, and it can be complemented by Q.station X EC controllers when local logging and edge processing capabilities are required.
