Q.series XE is a family of high-performance DAQ modules that operate as individual EtherCAT slave devices. They provide precise measurement of electrical, mechanical, and thermal signals, with oversampling up to 100 kS/s, distributed clock synchronization, flexible configuration, and multiple form factors to fit EtherCAT-based test and automation applications.
Q.series XE is the EtherCAT-optimized variant of the Q.series X DAQ platform, offering the same measurement performance as Q.series XL but with EtherCAT as the primary fieldbus interface. Each Q.series XE module functions as a standalone EtherCAT slave with an ET1100 slave controller, distributed clock technology, and configurable PDO mapping for optimized data throughput. Modules are connected into the EtherCAT network via a Q.series XE Bus Coupler, which can address up to ten I/O modules per coupler.
Well suited for both hard and soft real-time environments, Q.series XE takes advantage of EtherCAT’s short cycle times (≤ 100 µs) and low jitter (≤ 1 µs) for precise synchronization in test and automation systems. With dedicated modules, Q.series XE can measure voltage, current, resistance, potentiometer signals, RTD/cryogenic thermistors, thermocouples, strain gages (full/half/quarter bridge), inductive sensors, LVDT/RVDT, IEPE/charge, frequency, PWM, counters, and more—including high-voltage and high-speed inputs.
The product family is available in several form factors—Q.bloxx (DIN rail), Q.brixx (portable/compact), and Q.raxx (19″ rack)—and I/O cards and front plates can be swapped between housings for maximum mechanical flexibility. Configuration options include CoE (CANopen over EtherCAT), read/write via SDO, file transfer via FoE, and predefined templates for common sensor types (±10 V, 4–20 mA, Pt100 2- and 4-wire, full/half-bridge, multiple thermocouple types, and more). The result is a highly adaptable DAQ solution that exploits the full capabilities of EtherCAT for measurement and control applications across mobility, aerospace, energy, and civil engineering.
